Polaroid Passion Project
What is the Polaroid passion project?
Polaroid Passion Project is a journaling experience I started by myself a year ago. I usually took a picture during a moment I felt was worthy then wrote about it. It caused me to stop & reflect on events I held dear to my heart.
What inspired the idea for the project?
Depression! Now that I'm on the other side of it I can laugh about it. This project was 1st & fore most about self-care. I needed to slow down last year. I felt myself tail spinning what with finishing school, not having any kind of job lined up, hating my current job, wishing I could travel & pursue photography full-time, the list goes on. I needed to be able to physically look @ good memories & calm myself.
One of the dopest moments you've had while doing the project? Any difficulties?
Cuba! Man, that trip really changed my life. I can't express enough how the photos in Cuba meant more to me than a lot of the photos I took back in the States. The overall experience & what I was able to learn will stay with me the rest of my life.
What and who makes this project unique?
I once ruined a pack of film (8 exposures=$25) because I loaded it wrong. Each individual made this project unique for sure. We've got a tattoo artist, boxer, & some photographers. I wanted to get creatives from all walks so the show should be interesting.
Why use Polaroids to capture the moment?
I got really into buying Polaroids 2 years ago for whatever reason. I've always loved old cameras so once I bought my 1st camera & started I was hooked. The vintage aspect is a huge draw & the fact that it's an instant photo. No Photoshop or fancy editing software & no crazy light set ups, just the flash on the cam & a lot of hopes & prayers that the shot comes out decent. A lot of times it doesn't & learning yo appreciate those photos still is important.
